Embrace "What could be" and not "What could have been"

I recently heard a quote that stayed with me:

“What misses you was never meant for you, and what is meant for you will never miss you.”

It instantly reminded me of something my father used to tell me:

“Whatever happens is for a good reason.”

As a kid, I never understood it. I would challenge him and ask, “How can something bad happen for a good reason?”

He would simply say, “Because not everything is in our control, and all we can do is do our best.”

At the time, it didn’t resonate with me.

But as life went on, I kept hearing similar ideas from different people.

“Sometimes the universe has other plans.”

“It’s okay if you don’t get what you want, because what you deserve might be better.”

Now, I see these not just as philosophical sayings but as powerful mindset shifts.

They remind us to believe in our own abilities, to trust the path we are building, and to stay focused on the future instead of dwelling on the past.

Learn from setbacks, failures and disappointments, and then let them go.

Because holding on to “what could have been” often keeps us from seeing “what could be.”
