Give Your Energy, Not Just Your Time

Last week, during the Thanksgiving break, my family continued a tradition we have loved for years. We visited our close friends (our "chosen" family), shared what we were thankful for, talked openly about our struggles, and enjoyed being together. Reminded me of a phrase I had heard that summed up the entire experience beautifully:
Give your energy, not just your time.
We spent hours together, but what made it meaningful was the energy we brought into those moments. We kept our phones far away. We listened without distractions. We laughed, cooked, played, and had conversations that made everyone feel heard and valued.
It reminded me that in our daily lives, it is not the number of hours that strengthens relationships or moves our work forward. It is the quality of our presence.

This applies not just at home, but also at work. You can attend a meeting and contribute nothing. You can create a report that no one reads. You can be present on the calendar but absent in impact.
So here is your practical tip for the week:
Protect your energy.
Say no to meetings that do not need you. If you get invited to a meeting without an agenda, email the organizer asking for the agenda and if you need to be there. Say no to tasks and reports that add no value. If you think that the report will never be reviewed, create the report and don't send it. Wait to see if anyone asks for it 😀
And wherever you choose to say yes, show up fully and give your 100%. Bring intention, clarity, and genuine presence. It will elevate your relationships, your work, and your peace of mind.
Where can you shift from giving time to giving energy this week?
I have seen clarity with intention transform my clients. If you are ready to explore what that could look like for you, feel free to connect with me.
